Senior Accountant

Saalex Corporation is seeking a senior Senior Accountant to join our Finance/Accounting Team. The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting period-end close, and ensuring compliance with government contracting and DCAA requirements. This role requires hands-on expertise in Deltek Costpoint, strong understanding of cost accounting, and the ability to independently manage complex accounting processes in a regulated environment.The Senior Accountant partners closely with Finance leadership, Contracts, Payroll, and Project Controls to ensure financial integrity, audit readiness, and timely reporting across multiple contracts and cost structures.Position Type: Full-TimeSalary: $100k-$120k annually (depending upon experience)Work Location: Fully Remote.Essential Functions:Core Accounting & ClosePerform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities in Deltek Costpoint, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysisPrepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of discrepanciesMaintain accurate general ledger activity in compliance with GAAP and government accounting standardsSupport financial statement preparation and internal reporting packagesDeltek Costpoint Administration & UsageServe as a subject-matter expert (SME) for Deltek Costpoint modules, including:General LedgerAccounts PayableAccounts ReceivableProject Accounting\Labor & Payroll interfacesReview and validate project setups, account structures, organizations, and cost poolsTroubleshoot Costpoint issues related to postings, interfaces, and system controlsSupport system upgrades, patches, testing, and process improvementsGovernment Contracting & ComplianceEnsure compliance with DCAA, FAR, and CAS requirements as applicableSupport indirect rate structures (fringe, overhead, G&A) and cost pool maintenanceAssist with incurred cost submissions, audit requests, and data pullsMaintain audit-ready documentation, schedules, and support filesBilling, Revenue & Project SupportSupport contract billing processes (FFP, T&M, Cost-Plus, as applicable)Assist with revenue recognition and project cost analysisMonitor project costs for accuracy, allowability, and proper classificationPartner with Contracts and Project Managers to resolve billing or cost issuesProcess Improvement & ControlsIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and Costpoint workflowsAssist with documentation of accounting policies and proceduresSupport segregation of duties and internal control best practicesProvide guidance or review work of junior accounting staff, as applicableRequirementsRequired:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in government contractingStrong hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint (required)Solid understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principlesExperience supporting audits and regulatory complianceAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsDesired:Experience in a DCAA-audited or audit-ready environmentKnowledge of FAR, CAS, and government contract typesCPA or CMA (preferred, not required)Experience with multi-entity or multi-org accounting structuresPrior involvement in system implementations or Costpoint upgradesCompetencies & Attributes:Highly organized with strong time management skillsAbility to work independently and manage competing deadlinesStrong written and verbal communication skillsComfortable partnering with cross-functional teamsProactive mindset with a continuous improvement focusWork Environment:RemotePeriod-end and audit cycles may require extended hoursBenefitsHealth Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)Short Term & Long Term DisabilityTraining & DevelopmentWellness ResourcesStock Option Plan
