Duties Description The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is seeking candidates for an Assistant Director of Financial Administration 2 position in the Financial Administration Office. This office processes all non-grant and non-State Aid payments issued by the Department and serves as fiscal advisor to Department management and staff. Ideal candidates will be a results-oriented team member able to direct multiple units and have experience leading modernization initiatives. Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:• Oversee the Accounting and Reporting, Accounts Payable, Revenue, and Travel units including supervision of all lead staff in these areas;• Help to ensure transactions adhere to the NYS Guide to Financial Operations (GFO) and are processed according to OSC and SFS protocols;• Ensure all Federal and State reports are submitted timely in accordance with all rules and regulations.• Serve as liaison with the US Department of Education on the annual development of the Agencies and LEA’s Indirect Cost Plan;• Maintain/develop policies and procedures in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations including proper internal controls of unit functions;• Act as lead liaison on SFS workgroups and assist in the coordination of any SFS/OSC system or policy changes;• Assess risks for all oversight areas and ensure adequate internal controls; and• Ensure training and performance plans are provided to all staff.
