Job Description Job Description: Position Summary: The Commercial Property Accountant will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of a portfolio of commercial properties. This role requires a detail-oriented and organized individual with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles related to real estate. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial property accounting and be able to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of commercial properties, including general ledger entries, financial statements, and variance reports. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring all financial information is accurate and up-to-date. Reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable for each property. Prepare and analyze property budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections. Manage tenant billing, including rent, common area maintenance (CAM) charges, and other tenant-related financial transactions. Assist in the preparation of annual operating expense reconciliations and tenant CAM reconciliations. Coordinate with property managers and leasing agents to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations. Assist with external audits and provide necessary documentation and support. Collaborate with the finance team to improve processes and implement best practices. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and changes in accounting regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial property accounting or real estate accounting. Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus, but not required.
