Position Description:Clinical Psychologist Department of Psychiatry The Department of Psychiatry within the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa is seeking a Licensed Psychologist to join our clinical track faculty and the IDMI (Intellectual Disability/Mental Illness) program. The candidate will join the psychology division within the larger department of psychiatry. The candidate will be an active member of a specialized interdisciplinary team of social work, nursing, psychiatry, psychology, and medicine with expertise supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and severe challenging behaviors. Appointment will be on the non-tenure clinical track, open rank. The position is a FTE and consists of 80% clinical time and 20% academic time. The Department of Psychiatry is recruiting a psychologist to join our interdisciplinary outpatient team to provide clinical services to children, adolescents and/or adults with intellectual disabilities. The psychologist will be responsible for providing outpatient therapy and clinical assessment as well as education and consultation to patients/families and care providers. Incoming faculty will receive mentoring and support for growth and innovation and almost endless opportunities for collaboration. The team is involved in research projects and its members support regional and national presentations, training and publication process. The team interfaces with safety and security, nursing, and physicians to support patients with behavioral needs throughout the hospital. Working in the states only tertiary academic medical center offers unique opportunities for program development and application of skills for very complex patients. The psychologist will engage in teaching at multiple levels, such as medical residents/fellows, medical students, and graduate students. Teaching opportunities include more formal didactics and clinical teaching in areas of the psychologists expertise. Leadership will work closely with the candidate to optimize their time to work in preferred areas of interest.  The UI Department of Psychiatry has a long tradition of excellence in research, a well-developed research infrastructure, and ample patient populations that support efforts in a variety of areas of investigation. These include studies in neuroimaging, genetics, epidemiology, psychopharmacology, neuropsychology, and basic neuroscience. Demonstrated expertise in behavioral approaches to patient care, specific consideration for a certification in applied behavior analysis and/or contextual behavior sciences. Certifications: Licensed or eligible for licensure and Health service provider status in State of Iowa.
