Laboratory Research Technician

Essential Duties The research technician will assist in molecular microbiology research.Use a wide range of techniques such as microbiological culturing, molecular cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, and DNA sequence analysis. Maintain a precise, organized, and up-to-date laboratory notebook documenting experimental procedures, observations, and data.Follow established protocols, maintain laboratory safety standards, and contribute to overall lab organization.OTHER DUTIES:Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a molecular microbiology laboratory.Proficiency in molecular techniques including molecular cloning and site-directed mutagenesis.Proficiency in microbial culturing and microbial genetics techniques.Proficiency in analyzing scientific literature.Accurate record keeping and excellent organizational skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.EDUCATION:Minimum Bachelor of Science in Biological Science or Biochemistry or in a related field. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Prolonged sitting in front of computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, may carry 10-15 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, taste or smell.
