Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Nurse Practitioner for our Cardiac Surgery Department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

As a Cardiac Surgery Nurse Practitioner you will:

• Complete histories and physicals, ordering pre-procedure diagnostic studies and medications, providing pre-procedure education to patients and their family

• Manage in-patient care and throughput to discharge

• Facilitate the direct admit of patients transferred from other hospitals

• Perform minor procedures such as (but not limited to) chest tube removal and pacing wire removal

• Round with physicians and surgeons daily and as needed as well as ICU rounds daily when possible

• Provide comprehensive discharge instructions and teaching for patients and their families including follow up appointments, writing prescriptions and medication education

Qualifications include:

• Master's degree or Doctorate degree in Nursing

• 3-5 Years of Cardiovascular Surgical and Post Surgical Experience

• Licensed as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland

• National Board Certification

• BLS Certification

• ACLS Certification preferred

• Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner preferred

• Eligible for Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substance license

• DEA license is not required but preferred

Work Schedule:

3 x 12 hour shifts; Nights shifts only
