POSITION SUMMARY: The Cook at Charter Senior Living is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, delicious, and well-balanced meals for our residents. This role involves planning menus, cooking meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and adhering to food safety regulations. The Cook plays a vital role in ensuring that residents receive meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences while fostering a warm and inviting dining experience. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines. Ensure that meals are presented attractively and meet quality standards. Menu Planning: Assist in planning weekly menus that cater to residents’ dietary needs, preferences, and any special dietary restrictions or medical conditions. Food Safety: Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper food handling, storage, and cleanliness protocols. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment. Resident Interaction: Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner. Address any meal preferences or dietary concerns they may have and make accommodations as needed. Inventory Management: Monitor food inventory levels, manage ordering of supplies, and ensure that all ingredients are fresh and used within their shelf life. Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain kitchen equipment and appliances in good working condition. Report any maintenance issues to the Food Services Manager. Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other kitchen staff, including kitchen aides and dietary aides, to ensure smooth meal service operations. Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
