Our goal is simple: to reimagine how communities experience aging, serious illness, and end-of-life care through compassionate, personalized, and high-quality services.Position SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated Access Specialist to be the first point of contact for patients, families, and referral sources. This is a part-time position that includes some weekends. This role ensures a smooth transition from referral to admission by verifying insurance benefits, gathering required documentation, and supporting timely scheduling. The Access Specialist plays a vital role in connecting patients with the care they need while providing excellent customer service and fostering strong communication across our care teams.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the initial contact for referrals, patients, and families.Verify insurance coverage and coordinate benefits for Blue Ridge Care service lines.Enter patient information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and ensure all documentation is complete.Schedule initial provider appointments and assessment nurse visits.Collect and analyze data to validate eligibility for hospice and palliative services.Maintain timely communication with physicians, referral sources, and internal teams.Support administrative volunteers and assist with medical record retrieval.Demonstrate proficiency with the Perfect Phone Encounter process to ensure consistent, high-quality interactions.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; associate degree or higher education preferred.Previous healthcare experience strongly preferred.Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and EMR systems.Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.Customer service mindset with the ability to multitask and work independently.Your BenefitsVoluntary Benefits including critical illnessRetirement with Company MatchPaid Time Off (PTO)Paid Volunteer TimeThrift Shop DiscountWhy Blue Ridge Care?At Blue Ridge Care, we deliver extraordinary care to improve life’s journey.
