Labor One is hiring Journey-Level Shipfitters for a project in San Diego, California.Shipyard experience is required.Please contact our team for more informationCell: (956)382-2631 (619)657-5507 or (858)717-1672*Please send us a text if we don't answer*Walk-ins Accepted Apply today1625 Hoover Avenue National City, CA 91950Office Hours: 8:00 AM-5:00 PMKey Responsibilities:As a Shipfitter, you will perform steel and aluminum structural work on various marine vessels, including U.S. Naval Vessels, Military Sealift Command, and commercial ships.This role involves:-Conducting repairs and modernization work with minimal supervision.-Utilizing strong mechanical aptitude and adhering to detailed job specifications.-Reading blueprints, interpreting drawings, and measuring accurately.-Fabricating templates and installing structures according to specifications.Qualifications:To be successful in this role, you should possess:-Strong comprehension of instructions, drawings, and correspondence.-In-depth understanding of ship repair terminology and compartment location nomenclature.-Physical capability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with OSHA standards.-Ability to write clear Condition Found Reports (CFR) detailing the ship's material condition and recommended actions.-Effective communication skills for conveying job-related information to supervisors and team members.-Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural drawings, including weld symbols and Navy damage control diagrams.-Experience in fabricating templates, squaring plates, and installing perpendiculars on ships.-Proficiency with oxy-acetylene torch cutting and washing.-Welding experience in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW techniques.-Safe operation of hand and power tools, including grinders, saws, and drills.-Knowledge of structural shop fabrication equipment like shears, punches, and brakes.-Understanding of the aluminum 5XXX process.-Strong mathematical skills for measurements using both US customary and metric systems.-Minimum of four years of relevant experience.Labor One Staffing is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
