Sterling County Nursing Home - We are looking for an experienced Director of Nursing to organize and oversee all nursing operations of Sterling County Nursing Home. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that the overall operation of our Nursing Department is in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility as may be directed by the Administrator and the Medical Director, to ensure that the highest level of quality care is maintained at all times.As Director of Nursing, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. In the absence of the Medical Director, you are charged with carrying out the resident care polices established by the facility.Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is an essential function of the position.Working Conditions:Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing service area (i.e., drug rooms, nurses’ stations, resident rooms, etc.).Moves intermittently during working hours.Is subject to frequent interruptions.Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors.Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. On call every other week.Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).Is involved in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for the residents’ needs.ResponsibilitiesDirect, oversee and evaluate all nursing personnel (registered nurses, LPN etc.)Guide staffing proceduresSet objectives and long-term goals for the nursing departmentOrganize and coordinate admission, nursing and patient care proceduresDevelop and enforce policies aiming for legal compliance and high-quality standardsResolve issues and deficiencies when neededManage record-keeping proceduresCollaborate with other departments and professionals to streamline operationsReport to upper managementSkillsProven experience as director of nursingKnowledge of legal regulations and best practices in long term careWillingness to keep abreast of changing standards in nursing administrationExcellent ability to lead and develop personnelGreat communication and people skillsOutstanding organizational and stress management skillsAptitude in problem-solvingDegree in nursing; Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare administration is a plusValid nursing and CPR certificationSterling County Nursing Home offers the following: Retirement (with employer match), Health Insurance, vision and dental, paid time off.Sterling County nursing home is a great place to work with a small-town feel.Medical SpecialtyGeriatricsSupplemental paySigning bonus of $5000.00
