Position Title: HEAVY DUTY MECHANICLocation: ORLAFLSA Class: NON-EXEMPTResponsible to: LEAD MECHANICPosition Summary: VoltaGrid is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to perform routine and complex maintenance on diesel and CNG-powered trucks, trailers, and equipment. This role ensures fleet safety, reliability, and compliance with DOT regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills, hands-on mechanical experience, and a safety-first mindset.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, battery checks, and fluid servicesDiagnose and repair diesel and CNG engines, emissions systems, and fuel componentsInspect brake systems, wheel bearings, suspensions, steering, and exhaust for compliance and functionalityConduct DOT and Federal annual inspections to ensure regulatory complianceUse a variety of tools and equipment including pneumatic wrenches, pressure gauges, and welding equipmentUtilize diagnostic software, handheld computers, motor analyzers, and chassis charts to troubleshoot malfunctionsTest drive vehicles to verify repairs and diagnose performance issuesReplace worn parts such as valves, gears, bearings, and filtersRepair and service HVAC, hydraulic, electrical, and cooling systemsPerform CNG tank inspections and follow proper safety procedures during depressurization and repairsMeasure and verify vehicle emissions meet required standardsEnsure parts meet factory specifications by checking dimensions and clearancesMaintain accurate maintenance records in the company systemOther Requirements:High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or degree preferredMinimum 5 years of experience in truck and trailer maintenancePrevious experience as a diesel mechanic; CNG system experience strongly preferredFamiliarity with Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and related systemsProficient in using diagnostic tools and softwareStrong attention to detail and safety proceduresExcellent communication and customer service skillsMust be physically able to lift heavy parts and work in confined or awkward spacesCDL is a plusPhysical Requirements:Regularly lift up to 75 lbsProlonged standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various weather conditionsMust wear required PPE and follow safety guidelinesThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
