Evaluate available supply channels to increase product value and reduce production cost Negotiate contracts with outside vendors Establish material and equipment budget Analyze and assess demand for production projects Log and record all invoices and purchasing orders Monitor inventory and storage of materials Procures direct material and indirect material by preparing and submitting purchase orders. Establishes and sets ERP system with the order planning parameters used to plan the re-supply of items within the boundaries of the inventory strategy established by management Procures supplies by generating purchase orders and expediting deliveries Runs reports to identify shortages/delinquents and works with suppliers to resolve issues Maintains the purchase order system by printing and faxing/e-mailing purchase orders, tax exemption certificates, and credit references. Files related documents. Records and reconciles information related to the receipt of purchased goods Identifies quality and delivery issues with purchase components and communicates findings to other necessary Team members Processes returns to suppliers as needed Assists in cost control for both direct and indirect materials and services. Maintains company databases and systems in accordance with company policies. Maintains cost data in the company ERP system. Assists in maintaining accurate inventory in ERP system. Maintains accurate Item Master data. Assists in maintaining accurate quoting information. Maintains accurate supplier information. Facilitates product changes by: Works with Purchasing Agent to process ECOs by reviewing changes, updating information, placing orders, providing information to production, engineering, and others. Execute the smooth and economic transition of purchased components affected by a change in either engineering specifications or suppliers. Assists in cycle counting and inventory control Maintain strong working relationship and communication directly with the Vendors/Suppliers to confirm production/shipping schedules and monitor open purchase orders for all orders to ensure on-time deliveries Proactively report product and material availability issues, such as, damage materials; revise essential system planning data to ensure Inventory Management: Reporting Inventory, Cycle Counts, Inventory Adjustments, Inventory Target and Goals measurements Maintain purchase order status and shipment tracking information, supply status and shipment tracking Coordinate with Manufacturers, Suppliers, Return of Materials the required shipping documents Coordinate inventory planning and replenishment of raw materials and parts in conjunction with the Production Schedule and Sales Delivery Dates This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list; other duties may be required.These duties and responsibilities are subject to change at any time. Do you have the following qualifications? Previous experience as a purchasing agent or other related fields Strong analytical, research, problem solving and decision making skills.  Strong negotiation skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Strong attention to detail. Your education & experience should be similar to: Bachelor degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field ISM/APICS certification a plus (CPSM, CPIM, CSCP) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or Demand Planning Resource Planning (DRP) system for purchasing analysis and execution required. Must have 3-5+ years of related experience and/or training Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Project and Outlook Excellent writing and grammatical skills Working conditions: Open office environment, moderate noise level Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The estimated annualized base salary range for the Buyer role is $55,000 - $65,000. Animal Supply Company (ASC) compensation is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to role, level, and location. In addition, ASC’s pay can vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience for each candidate for the posted position. Included in ASC’s total compensation are benefits such as medical, dental, and retirement.
