The selection process may consist of the following components: Supplemental Questions Oral Exam/Interview (Tentatively scheduled for the week of August 26, 2024) Job Summary To perform duties associated with basic maintenance of City’s Community Services facilities including buildings, athletic courts, indoor and outdoor recreational amenities; assist in set-up and breakdown of events at Community Services facilities as needed; provide support to an assigned supervisor. This is the journey level in the single-level, part-time Community Services Facility Attendant maintenance class. Receives general supervision from an assigned supervisor or designee. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:   Perform occasional janitorial/maintenance duties between routine scheduled servicing at Community Services facilities.  Inspect Community Services facilities, such as tennis courts and community centers, for safety hazards, vandalism, or damage; perform basic maintenance or repair and inform a Supervisor of any concerns.  Assist to maintain appearance and overall environment of Community Services athletic courts and facility exteriors by completing daily tasks and cleaning as needed, empty trash cans and change trash can liners around City’s athletic courts. Set-up chairs, tables, umbrellas, and other equipment in City’s Community Services facilities. Perform set-up and breakdown of courts and recreational spaces for various game play including pickleball.  Assist with the monitoring of guest activities in Community Services facilities and enforce all rules, regulations, and safety principles as needed. May assist with opening and closing procedures for Community Services facilities.  May assist with maintenance, cleanliness, and storage of equipment utilized by rentals and classes.  Assist new or existing staff in learning departmental practices and protocols, methods, and procedures.  Provide customer service as needed.  Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.  Foster an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.  Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.  Perform related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Experience and Training  Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:   Experience: Some custodial or maintenance experience is desirable.   Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.   License and Certificate  Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license as required by the position. Possession of CPR and first aid certificates within 6 months of appointment.  Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of:  Tools and equipment used to perform basic janitorial/maintenance work.  Safe operation and use of hand tools.   Ability to:  Learn to perform general custodial and maintenance duties at assigned City facilities. Learn to operate power broom.  Operate hand tools and equipment.  Use sound judgment in recognizing scope of authority.  Maintain regular attendance and adhere to prescribed work schedule to conduct job responsibilities.  Utilize appropriate safety procedures and practices for assigned duties.  Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.  Work with various cultural and ethnic groups in a tactful and effective manner. Communicate clearly and effectively with patrons, supervisors, and co-workers. Physical Requirements Physical Demands  On an on-going basis, walk and stand for extended periods of time. Lift, carry, push, pull and lower up to 50 pounds; bend in all directions and squeeze with arms and hands; ability to climb and work off ladders.
