Objectives To assure the availability of uninterrupted internet service to Fastnet customers To optimize the productivity level of a skilled team engaged in the construction and maintenance of the fiber networkReporting Relationships GIS CoordinatorResponsibilities and Authorities This position represents a highly skilled Equipment Operator. Performs Personally the Following Activities Unique to This Position:Knowledge of established underground and aerial cable/fiber installation and maintenance procedures and techniques.Place cable/ fiber facilities within conduit systems, decommission and remove facilities, familiarity with operating a wide range of knowledge of construction equipment and tools, and ability to read and understand prints/maps, safety rules, and operating instructions.Installation and maintenance of fiber underground and aerial facilities. Performing various aerial duties, including installing or removing fiber and hardware, and performing all-pole transfer work by Fastnet specs.Displays a thorough knowledge of OSHA Regulations and other applicable regulatory standards. Responsible for keeping tools and work equipment in orderly arrangement on the truck when not in use. Maintains job location in a safe and neat condition. Displays thorough working knowledge and expertise in all heavy equipment utilized on the job site - its operation, preventive maintenance, and repair. Displays a thorough knowledge of CPR, first aid applications, rescue procedures, and safe working practices outlined in 4-County's Safety Manual through daily work practices and encourages others to do the same. Checks vehicle before beginning operations, i.e., oil, tire pressure, battery water, hydraulic leaks, etc., if needed. Operates automotive equipment when assigned; complies with all traffic laws, safety rules, regulations, and safe practices while operating the vehicle given to him; should always show utmost concern for the safety of the car, its occupants, and its load. Promotes good consumer relations by respecting the customer's property Is available as required to assist in handling outages.
