Under the direction of the Associate Director of Facilities Logistics, the Data Specialist supports the University’s utility operations and asset documentation. This is accomplished by overseeing utility usage and billing, maintaining the Energy Management System (EMS), managing the functionality of waste streams across campus, and maintaining a detailed and up-to-date inventory of all Maintenance Worthy Items (MWI) through TMA (DFS’ Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)) to catalog and track assets. The role sources and vets new vendors and initiatives that improve efficiency and reduce costs, while also monitoring infrastructure and preparing reports that demonstrate the strategic importance of utilities in supporting the University’s mission.Duties Analyze and project short and long-term utility requirements, rates, and costs. Prepare analytical reports and recommendations. Research new technologies, source and vet new vendors, and recommend initiatives that reduce costs and increase efficiency. Maintain accuracy of the University's utility billing and usage tracking software. Produce financial and usage reports. Maintain infrastructure records. Track physical assets on campus to support maintenance, lifecycle planning, procurement, and regulatory conditions including tagging assets, recording specifications, updating digital records, and maintaining documentation. Support construction, operation, and maintenance of utility systems, including sub-metering and EMS. Review installation and maintenance projects in collaboration with the project managers. ROI analysis for future utility efficiency projects. Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure compliance with county and state codes, industry standards, and University requirements. Manage corrective actions as needed. Assist DFS in preventive maintenance and repairs of University-owned infrastructure. Document accurate utility maps and records. Manage and optimize campus waste streams, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and sustainability in disposal and recycling programs. Contribute to continuous departmental process improvement (i.e., partner with DFS management on facilities condition assessments to provide data exports and related queries). Provide after-hours emergency response support, including occasional overtime and weekend troubleshooting. Perform other duties as assigned. Uphold University mission through work performed. Skills and Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree or two years of equivalent experience. Basic engineering knowledge regarding facilities and equipment. Proficiency with G Suite, and Microsoft Office. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret and analyze data to drive initiatives, performing annual budgeting. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with skilled and semi-skilled staff. Demonstrated ability to perform well under pressure while maintaining a customer service–focused approach. Normal mobility and ability to periodically lift and carry objects weighing as much as 30 pounds, including up and down stairs. Must drive personal vehicle for University business (mileage reimbursed), hold valid driver's license, and be insurable under University's standard auto insurance requirements. Preferred: Fours years of relevant experience. Familiarity with mechanical equipment. Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably WebTMA. Knowledge of HVAC, EMS, fire/life safety systems, irrigation, electrical, sewage, stormwater, and waste stream management. This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position. Expected Pay Range: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
