POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing advanced technical support and resolving escalated IT issues that Tier 1 or 2 technicians cannot address. This role involves troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and network problems while maintaining a seamless IT environment. The Senior Systems Administrator is key in enhancing IT service delivery and improving organizational productivity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle escalated support requests, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Utilize remote desktop tools and diagnostics to troubleshoot issues for remote users as necessary.
  • Assist with user account management, including advanced access permissions and group policy settings.
  • Support system administration tasks such as Entra ID/Active Directory management, server maintenance, and network connectivity issues.
  • Firewall and network configuration
  • Phone system configuration
  • Monitor system performance and provide recommendations for optimizations or upgrades.
  • Install, configure, and maintain user hardware and software, following company standards and best practices.
  • Support the deployment of new applications and assist with software updates and patches.
  • Update the helpdesk knowledge base with solutions for recurring issues and provide training materials to Tier One and Two technicians to reduce escalations.
  • Serve as a resource for Tier 1 and 2 technicians, offering guidance on resolving more challenging technical issues.
  • Provide training on system tools, applications, and best practices, enabling users to operate independently and prevent common issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize helpdesk processes and enhance overall service quality.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • An associate's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Experience, Competencies, and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in a helpdesk or IT support role, with a strong understanding of hardware, software, and network troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Windows OS, M365, Entra ID/Active Directory, IOS, Android OS, and common business applications.
  • Basic familiarity with Mac operating systems is preferred.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk) and remote support tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking fundamentals, including VLANs and firewall configurations.
  • Experience with WiFi access administration and SSID administration.
  • VoIP and telecom troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with best practices for incident management.
