Job Summary The PGY program at WesternU trains pharmacists to become skilled patient care providers, educators, scholars, and leaders who advance the practice of pharmacy. This Post-Graduate training program prepares pharmacy practitioners to advance the practice of pharmacy and to participate as a member of an integrated healthcare team, in community and health system settings. This program balances experiences in pharmacy care, pharmacy operations, teaching, project management, clinical research, and pharmacy administration. WesternU COP’s residency program is a multisite program with primary practice site locations across the Los Angeles region, at each program director’s clinical site. About the Program Post-PharmD trainees have the opportunity to participate in didactic and experiential teaching, as well as assist in the development of clinical skills with pharmacy students in all phases of pharmacy school. WesternU has an innovative block structure in the curriculum, which allows students to focus on one topic at a time, and for faculty (and other lecturers) to focus their teaching time. WesternU is a leader in providing interprofessional education and teaching evidence-based clinical practice – trainees will have a chance to participate in both. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Must have graduated from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy. 2. Eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of California. Must be licensed within 90 days of the start of employment. 3. Familiarity with computers, word processing applications, MS Excel, Web applications, and pharmacy dispensing software. 4. Good interpersonal professional skills. 5. Understand “Universal Precautions” and hazardous waste storage and disposal. 6. Be certified in vaccine administration and have an unexpired CPR/BLS certificate. Required Qualifications 1. Must have graduated from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy. 2. Must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of California. 3. Must be licensed within 90 days. Preferred Qualifications PREFERENCES:IPPCN Pharmacy Postdoctoral Trainee must apply to be considered for an interview and acceptance into the post-graduate training program. Essential Job Duties Key Responsabilities Teaching (20%)Under the supervision of the program director participate in teaching activities throughSupporting the teaching activities of assigned program directorsCoordinating courses with faculty membersGiving lectures and conducting small-group discussions with P1, P2, and P3 PharmD studentsGrading OSCEs and facilitate IPE sessions.Serving as preceptor and role model for PharmD students in the clinical setting. Key Responsabilities Clinical services (60%) Under the supervision of the program director participate in clinical service activities throughProviding patient care at respective training sitesParticipating in health fairs events and other direct patient care activitiesParticipating in administrative duties related to clinical services provided by the training site Key Responsabilities Research (10%) Under the supervision of the program director participate in research activities Key Responsabilities Other (10%) Participate in a teaching certificate program (including academic boot camp and journal club discussions) Posting Details Continued Work Schedule Normal work hours are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Overtime hours are not a normal part of this position’s schedule and must be pre-approved. The work schedule may be adjusted by the needs of the post-graduate training program, the program mentor, or the program director.
