Job Description

Education: A minimum of an associate degree is required.

Certification or Licensure: Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with passenger (P) and safety (S) endorsements within 90 days of employment.

Skills: Must possess strong leadership skills coupled with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to develop, monitor and implement safety and training processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of transportation safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to dynamic situations.

Work Experience: At least 5 years of similar experience in a public or private sector business is preferred, any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

PRIMARY DUTY

The Safety & Training Operations Manager will ensure the safety of all transportation activities within the Richmond County School System. The manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures. Collaboration with various departments and trades, including drivers, mechanics, dispatchers, and other staff members to ensure that transportation practices follow state and federal regulations is necessary. The manager is responsible for providing safety training, monitoring safety records, investigating accidents and incidents, conducting safety audits, and recommending corrective actions, as necessary.

Develops and implements safety policies and procedures for transportation Conducts regular safety audits and inspections of vehicles and Trains drivers and other transportation personnel on safe operation practices and Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to transportation Investigates accidents and incidents and develops corrective action plans to prevent future Maintains records and reports regarding accident statistics, safety training, and

Collaborates with other departments and external stakeholders to enhance transportation Monitors and evaluates industry trends and advancements in safety technologies and Implements and maintains a safety culture within the transportation Maintains required documentation for audit in compliance with federal, state and district Attends training sessions, conferences, and workshops to keep abreast of changing laws governing traffic safety, passenger loading, and student Develops, compiles, and maintains records including, but not limited to, bus driver records, license and certificate expirations, and training Creates and schedules transportation related training for monitors and exceptional student transportation Coordinates and provides re-training of school bus driving skills and student management training to current transportation staff, as Investigates customer service complaints relative to safety issues and takes appropriate corrective The employee shall conduct such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned, or required by such employee's supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law board policy administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and sit.
