For more information, visit .The Software Engineering Manager is a strong, motivated, technical leader with a passion for building high quality data-centric platforms and products. In conjunction with the Director, Engineering, this role supports the development of innovative software solutions and services tailored for data-driven digital marketing strategies, including analytics, campaign management, and customer engagement platforms. The successful Engineering Manager promotes collaboration and knowledge-sharing between engineers and at times participates as an active, hands-on engineer to develop prototypes, validate proof-of-value options, develop new features, and improve performance of existing systems. This role works collaboratively with Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, Engineering staff, and stakeholders to deliver our products.Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Lead a team of multi-disciplined remote South America based software engineers and establish priorities for system technical capabilities.Makes decisions related to technical oversight with the team, including architecture, DevOps, coding, and quality assurance practices.Accountable for quality focused software delivery, including new build and implementation of software.Responsible for the team’s delivery of robust, scalable, reliable, and highly available technical solutions.Works with product owners and managers to assist with product roadmaps.Manage and support evolving Agile software delivery teams’ data driven approach and ability to measure delivery performance.Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.Shapes an inclusive culture of the team to attract strong talent while thriving in innovation, rapid technology adoption, continuous improvement, collaborative teamwork, and delivery of quality technology solutions. Educational and Skills Requirements:8+ years of software engineering experience4+ years of leadership experience; experience managing remote teamsBachelor’s degree with a focus in computer science or related field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degreeStrong software and data structure design, development, and architecture experience (especially with distributed applications, microservices, domain-oriented systems)Experience delivering modern software, apps, or systems at scale for large customer bases.Experience with Cloud technologies, such as AzureGood understanding of DevOps best practices, CI/CD, observability, and production supportExperience with agile software development, such as KanbanDemonstrated ability in supporting diverse and inclusive culturesSolid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsBe able to juggle multiple tasks and fulfill ad-hoc requests based on priorityForward thinking, curious, and creativeAble to collect and analyze complex information, problem solve, and make decisionsStrong skills in inspiring the win-win-win Able to work independentlyTravel Requirements:Travel is rarely required for this position (0-1 trips per year).Travel will be entirely domestic.Type/Nature of Contacts:Internal: Key job contacts are primarily with clerical and technical personnel and managers outside of the job’s immediate work unit/department.External: There is almost no contact outside of Virtuoso staff.
