Status: Full Time (Day Shift)Hours: Monday-Friday (8:00am-5:30pm)General Description:The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for the daily operations processes within the Operating Room Satellite Pharmacy, as well as the provision of clinical pharmacy services to improve and enhance patient care throughout the hospital. This position ensures accurate and timely medication production from both the satellite and central pharmacies, and provides clinical support as needed to designated patient care units. Responsibilities:Performs order verification for the designated units.Works closely with all hospital personnel to assure safe and efficient delivery of patient care.Coordinates with decentralized pharmacists to assure continuity of care.Performs pharmacokinetic, antimicrobial, and anticoagulant monitoring.Conducts patient education for a variety of medications (e.g. diazepam, enoxaparin, epinephrine, warfarin).Oversees medication preparation by pharmacy technicians.Oversees Satellite IV Room production and maintenance.Monitors and oversees controlled substance inventory for the satellite pharmacy.Coordinates automated dispensing cabinet maintenance for designated areas.Works closely with all Pharmacy and Unit(s) personnel to assure safe, accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of patient care.Acts as a liaison between the pharmacy and the medical and nursing staff for issues pertaining to clinical pharmacy services.Participates in the orientation and training of new pharmacy employees as needed.Serves as a preceptor for College of Pharmacy students and PGY1 Pharmacy Residents at Driscoll Children's Hospital.Performs a variety of activities (policy/protocol development, order set development, medication use evaluation, medication build testing, etc.) and duties as assigned to meet the routine and urgent needs the department.Qualifications:Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor’s degree (BPharm) from an accredited college of pharmacyOne to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experiencePediatric and/or Hospital experience strongly preferred.Texas Pharmacist licenseTexas Preceptor license preferred
