Woodland BoulevardDeLand, FL 32720 Annual Salary Range: $95,964.24 - $124,189.02 Your Specific Responsibilities:Supervises employees spending the majority of the time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work. Has the authority to effectively recommend the hiring, transferring, suspension, lay off, recall’s, promotions, discharges, assignments, rewards, or disciplinary actions for subordinate employees. Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with subordinate staff. Provides direction and ensures that all subordinates receive training and instruction in methods and techniques necessary to safely perform their assigned tasks. Develop and manage professional and contractual service contracts, and other types of agreements, that support traffic operations. This includes project management responsibilities associated with procuring contracts, issuing task work orders, reviewing contract deliverables, reviewing, and processing invoices, coordinating Department personnel and other agencies associated with work under the contract, preparing contract correspondence, maintaining project files, and actively participating in project meetings. Develop and review engineering reports and studies. This includes preparing and disseminating the Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) tracking reports, study documentation and presentation of findings and conclusions, analysis of engineering data, and coordination of resources necessary to produce reports. Signs and seals engineering documents as required. Assist the District Traffic Safety Program Engineer in coordinating project production with the Department's Work Program. This includes establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the district's Work Program Unit so that project schedule and control can be efficiently managed. Assist with the development and coordination of the district’s safety work program. Participate in meetings, on committees, task teams and other groups with internal and external customers to represent traffic engineering interests. Includes, providing useful commentary and review of work products as well as developing correspondence and follow-up contact as needed. Assist the District Traffic Safety Program Engineer in implementing business and related plans to guide resource allocation and achieve unit performance targets.
