DescriptionThe Des Moines Airport Authority is hiring an Airport Operations Shift Manager. This position is an instrumental position of the Operations Department which consists of 20 dedicated aviation professionals. Come join our dynamic team and be part of a growing Small Hub Airport in the heart of the MidwestUnder the guidance and mentorship of the Airport Operations and Security Manager, this position coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Des Moines International Airport on a 24 hour basis to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration regulations pertaining to airport operations. Supervises Operations Coordinators on assigned shifts. Manages inspection of airport facilities, including runways, taxiways, ramps, perimeter barriers and buildings, records discrepancies and arranges for corrective action. Issues appropriate notices to airmen (NOTAMS) when hazards exist and initiate closure of all or parts of the airport if necessary. Responds to aircraft accident/incident and other emergency situations that occur on airport property; coordinates related activities, implements emergency or security plan measures until relieved by proper authority. Implement and coordinate snow removal activities in accordance with airport snow removal plan. Observes airport tenants activity to ensure compliance with operational provisions of lease documents. Enforces Airport Authority and other duly established rules and regulations pertaining to operation and use of the airport. Monitor and control ground transportation and public parking activities. Monitor and operate computer security control and information systems. Coordinate special events and projects including airport tours and VIP arrivals. Maintains written log of significant events and actions during shift, conduct surveys, prepare reports, maintain records and perform such other duties as may be assigned. Coordinate aircraft parking and gate assignments for diversions, emergencies and normal operation among tenants and other airport users.
