We have a new opening for a Lifeguard. Lifeguard is responsible to keep an eye out for patients indulging in recreational activities in the pool area. The lifeguard maintains constant surveillance of patients in the facility while patient engage in water related activities; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patients in the event of emergency. Provides emergency care treatment and lifesaving activities, to include but not limited to resuscitation and first aid as required, until the arrival of emergency medical services.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Education/Experience:

Minimum of a high school diploma  One (1) year of experience related to the supervision of related swimming activities and safety in and around pools. Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred. 

General Requirements:

Must be at least years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Interdepartmental Regulation of Children's Residential Facilities. (VAC--, pg. ) Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm. Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.) Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions. Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.
