Job Description The Director of Taxation and Special Projects is responsible for overall direction of tax compliance, tax planning and developing strategic financial and tax programs for a Real Estate company in West Hollywood, CA. This person should also have a general business knowledge and will participate in discussions concerning the structure of deals, financing requirements, preparation of financial statements and other special projects as required. Specific tax related responsibilities: 1. Direction of the tax return process for 70+ entities, trusts, and individuals; 2. Interface with outside tax accountants (Deloitte) for the preparation and filing of 10+/- returns; 3. Maintenance of the tax calendar summarizing filing deadlines for all entities; 4. Supervision and mentoring of in-house staff responsible for workpaper preparation; 5. Reviewing tax policies and reporting positions; 6. Comprehensive understanding of the existing estate planning that has been done for the ownership interests, and developing plans for additional planning in concert with outside advisors; 7. Primary interface for any individual or corporate audits that may present themselves; 8. Consultation with executive management team on tax impact and structuring of potential transactions, including sales of existing properties, acquisition of new properties, refinancing, etc. 9.
