Description Assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the Physical Plant of the hospital in reliable operation and in good repair. Performs upkeep of the Physical Plant performing carpentry related functions as they relate to maintenance and repair of Hospital facilities upkeep, renovations and construction. Works with wood, metal or synthetic material to construct, repair, modify, rebuild or install typical building systems and components of hospital properties such as, but not limited to, wall systems, ceiling systems, floors, doors, frames, shelving, cabinet systems, ceiling (IV and curtain) tracks, patient area wall hardware, locks, door hardware, minor plumbing repairs and other equipment/hardware as required. Works from Work Order Request forms, verbal instructions and detailed specifications, diagrams, sketches or plans. This is the advanced level. The employee serves as a crew leader and oversees the work of lower-level Maintenance Technicians. This advanced level Technician is able to assume management duties during the absence of the Plant Services Manager or Director of Plant Services. Position Requirements EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED preferred. Vocations school completion preferred. EXPERIENCE: Five years of maintenance experience in hospital, healthcare, commercial experience, or similar facility setting is preferred. Supervision or Management experience is preferred. JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Excellent human relation and oral/written communication skills Communication skills: answer telephones General office skills: maintain filing systems, maintain logs General Office Equipment: Adding machine, Calculator, FAX, Photocopier, Typewriter Tools: Hand and power tools; may use power tools CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES: License required in applicable field (i.e. HVAC, Electrician, Plumber etc.)
