Description Role Mission: RISE stands for Reaching Independence through Support and Education.IDEA Exceptional Student RISE teachers ensure that our students who have a wide range of learning, cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities, are held to very high achievement expectations so that they reach their fullest potential. Our IDEA Exceptional Student RISE teachers teach all subjects such as Reading, Writing, and Math, History, Adaptive PE and others to students who have but are not limited to intellectual, behavioral, and physical disabilities. RISE Exceptional Student teachers also provide resources, education, training, and emotional support to the families they serve so families are prepared for long-term plans for their children.What We OfferCompensation: The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $50,000. This role is eligible for various stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership ranging from $500-$4,000 each. We also offer opportunities and incentives through our Teacher Career Pathway with the potential to earn up to $10,000 in additional compensation. For more information about our compensation and total rewards, visit our page.Additional hourly compensation is provided for after school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.Other Benefits:We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majority of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing the majority of costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children. Some of the special benefits we offer at IDEA include:Paid Family Leave: Eligible staff may receive up to 8 weeks of paid leave for the birth or adoption of a child, based on their tenure with the organization and caregiver designation.Tuition Reimbursement: Staff members may apply for up to 50% of tuition paid toward a qualifying degree program, up to $5,250 maximum per year subject to manager discretion and budget availability.Employer-Paid Mental/Behavioral Health:5 face-to-face counseling sessions within a year, unlimited 24/7 telephonic counseling, and other work-life services available at no cost.Other benefits include dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, parenting benefits, flexible spending account options, generous vacation time, referral bonuses, professional development, and an employer paid 403(b) retirement matching of up to 4% of your annual compensation. IDEA may offer a relocation allowance to defray the cost of moving for this role, if applicable.What You Bring -- CompetenciesQualifications:Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institutionrequiredExperience: Experience in an Exceptional Student Education classroom setting with students who have significant disabilitiesLicenses or Certifications: valid state certification in Exceptional Student Education and content is required, current GT endorsement or willingness to earn GT endorsement upon hire requiredKnowledge and Skills:Knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to instruct students and manage student behaviorStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environmentAbility to facilitate Admission, Review and Dismissal meetingsStrong family engagement and communicationRecord of results for students who are academically at riskWhat You’ll Do -- Accountabilities Exceptional Student Education Teacher Responsibilities: Adapt lessons to meet the needs of studentsSupport coordination of related services for students on their caseloadDevelop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for a caseload of studentsImplement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progressUpdate IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goalsAssess students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plansCollect and analyze student data in order to make effective decisions to maximize achievementDiscuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administratorsPrepare and help students transition from grade to grade and after graduationImplementstate learning standards and IDEAcurricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectationsSubmit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedbackImplement formal and informal assessments to track each individual student’s progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weeklyCommunicate students’ progress with student and family on a weekly basisEffective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work related tasks.Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to campus- wide initiatives while developing students’ character and sense of community in the classroomHelp shape and develop a school wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each studentEstablish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.
