Duties include:Prepare, combine, season, and/or cook food served in university dining halls according to standardized recipes, methods and/or proceduresMake advance preparation for food items as requiredPerform necessary operations to prepare food items, utilizing the proper food production equipmentDispose of leftovers as directedMaintain clean work area and ensure general cleanliness of equipment, follow cleaning schedules as established in the work unitAssist cook a in preparing and cooking several types of foods as directed, utilizing the proper food preparation equipmentCheck equipment to ensure proper working conditions and cleanliness; report malfunctionsEnsure that menu items for the serving lines are maintained at proper temperature and freshness and that adequate amounts are available for students and guestsPerform other duties related or similar to the type described aboveJob Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. Work from recipes, menus, requisitions, familiar with ordinary cooking routines.
