Senior Accountant (construction industty)

On-site in Phoenix, AZ

Well-established north Phoenix construction company is hiring a Construction Accountant for an upward growth position. Competitive pay and outstanding benefits

What will you be doing:

· Performing day-to-day accounting functions and assisting Controller with general ledger reconciliations, month end closing and financial reporting

· Analyze and review job status with Project/Construction Managers.

· Direct and participate in cost analyses.

· Process accounts payable & weekly check runs.

· Manage process for proper coding of construction invoices and payment applications and lien releases for contractor and vendor invoices.

· Develop, implement, and maintain construction management system, including setting up projects (jobs), budgets, job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and various construction progress reports.

· Prepare/gather materials related to construction and cost accounting matters for Controller.

· Prepare monthly TPT returns and annual property tax filings.

Job Skills and Qualifications:

· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required

· Minimum of 3 years construction accounting experience

· Knowledge of construction cost accounting and general accounting.

· Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, lien releases, and other pertinent construction documents.

· Ability to respond to common inquiries and/or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, members of the business community, peer professionals, and management.

· Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data and perform quantitative analysis.

· Advanced MS Excel skills.
