JOB DESCRIPTION Job Description Through research programs funded by science and technology R&D organizations within the Department of Defense, the research and development team in FAST Labs collaborate across the enterprise. The FAST Labs business area is the innovative research and development engine within the Electronic Systems Sector of BAE Systems. We are a fast-paced environment, creating prototype, proof of concept, and low volume product with minimal process and documentation requirements. Fast Labs is an environment where smart people are allowed to run fast.As a Senior Principal II Software Engineer in FAST Labs Engineering you might:Work with programs and scientists to drive a software product line strategy by implementing, communicating, and maintaining DevSecOps pipelines that feed shared software products to many customers.Lead the evaluation and design of highly complex and innovative software architectures.Be the technical leader of a team of 5 to 10 people.Serve as a scrum master.Mentor and train junior staff in software engineering industry best practices and process.Lead external project interactions with customers to understand their requirements and guide development efforts to meet their needs.Design, write, test, integrate, and debug software on assigned programs. Typically in C++ but in other languages as well.Qualified candidates will also possess knowledge of software architectures, software industry best practices, and emerging software technologies. As a member of the Software Engineering Directorate, you will have opportunities to continue developing strong and increasingly complex software skills and stay current in the software discipline.The organization focuses on career development of our software engineers and advancement of the craft of software engineering. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time. #LI-KS1Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor's Degree in a technical area with 10+ years professional SW development experience.Active Top Secret DoD clearance with ability to obtain SCI accessesStrong experience with object-oriented C++ (11 or later)Strong experience developing for and operating in a Linux EnvironmentExperience with containerization ( Podman/Docker) and developing software in containerized environments.Experience developing applications that cover several of: distributed, multi-threaded, real time, embedded, low latency, DSP, device control, or military systems.Experience with DevSecOps, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and automated release management.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Knowledge of Digital Engineering methodologies and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices.Software architecture experience.Experience developing algorithms in MATLABGeneral Purpose Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) OPENCL or CUDA development.Cloud Native Technologies experience ( Kubernetes, Harbor, Helm, etc.)RF, Radar, EO/IR, Electronic Warfare, or Software Defined Radio experience.Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
