The Mechanical Technician also assists with related upgrades, improvements, electrical needs and assigned projects as required.What you'll be doingReceives and performs job assignments through work orders, sketches, PM schedules, blueprints, or verbal instructions; follows applicable codes and regulations on work performedResponds to emergency requests for repairs/replacements, including fire system malfunctions which may be reported during off hoursTroubleshoots malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand toolsLocates and remedies the breakdown or malfunctionInstalls conduits and wire connections to circuit breakers, transformers, or other componentsRepairs or replaces wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power toolsInspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair; ensures compliance with codeRepairs and maintains a variety of production machinery and equipment including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and partsInstalls, modifies, and relocates machinery and equipment; in addition to electrical-related work, may perform fabrication, welding, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, or other maintenance tasksRepairs and modifies building and plant systems as requiredReads and interprets manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other written installation and repair instructionsPerforms routine inspections and preventative maintenance of assigned plant equipment, machinery, and systems including gauges, filters, fluid levels, system readings, air compressors, chillers, etc.Requisitions and secures materials, tools, and supplies needed for assignmentsUses a variety of measuring and testing equipment to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and systemsUses a wide range of shop, hand, and power tools common to the various trades appliedMaintains specified records, logs, and system readingsPossesses knowledge of mechanical blueprint readingFollows prescribed environmental, safety, and health rulesComplies with sanitation guidelines and good manufacturing practices related to neatness, product cleanliness, and personal hygieneThe listed responsibilities in this job description are not exhaustive; you’ll be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your Manager, Supervisor, or their Designee to achieve overall business objectives for the organizationWhat we need from youMust be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visaBachelor’s degree and/or certificate as a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT) is requiredCertified Electronics Technician certificate (CET) strongly preferredCombination of technical training equivalent to that generally obtained in a two-year college or apprenticeship program preferredUnderstands, adheres to, and reinforces EHS policies and directivesAbility to work independently and in concert with Mechanical Technicians as well as production co-workers and contractorsMinimum 3 years’ manufacturing work experience and/or 3 years as a Maintenance Technician, with experience & training to includeAllen Bradley PLC (SLC-500 and/or PLC5)Process Control & Instrumentation (temperature, flow, pressure, level, etc.)NFPA 70Power Distribution (480 VAC & below)Machine ControlsCalibration of pressure, temperature, level, and flow instrumentation4-20mA systemsMotor control circuitsVariable frequency drivesConduit bending and installation wire pullsAbility to read and red-line P&ID’sCan perform all required PM checklists (Lamination, Printing, Slitting, Building Infrastructure)Skilled in troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuits or systemsCan perform all required ISO Calibration for plant production equipmentKnowledge of general maintenance techniques, processes, and procedures for the repair, installation, and modification of a variety of company equipment, systems, and facilitiesSkilled in the use of basic hand, shop, and power tools and a wide range of test and measuring equipmentAbility to read and interpret blueprints, maintenance manuals, schematics, and drawingsAbility to conduct various tests on systems and must know and apply appropriate regulations and standardsForklift Certification or ability to obtain the sameEffective oral and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and make decisions on the most appropriate approach to solving problemsEffective creative thinking and troubleshooting skillsGood critical judgment and initiativeAbility to cooperate well with others to follow safety procedures and prevent injuriesMust be willing to accept overtime when requiredMust be available for call-ins on off-shifts and weekendsMust be able to lift 50 lbs, stand on feet and walk for prolonged periods, climb ladders & stairs, and work both inside and outside***
