Location: Canada-Wide, Canada-Wide, Canada Job Type: Permanent Date: 1/26/2022 Job ID: 9M495505126 Category: Engineering & Technical If you are a talented and experienced Senior Estimator, Gezamin Manuel, Recruitment Consultant at David Aplin Group has partnered with our client, a growing company in Burlington, Ontario.  Reporting to the General Manager of Estimating and Pre-planning, the Senior Estimator will use his/ her expert knowledge in supervising and improving the estimating process across a variety of project types and delivery methods, including, unit prices, lump sums, and Design-Build, with the ability to lead a team through the entire tender phase for major projects. The Senior Estimator will oversee the allocation of estimating resources, review estimates, and manage tender closing/pursuit submissions. The role will provide support, guidance, and encouragement to all members of the estimating team.    Responsibilities:Through networking and research, you will look for opportunities to secure new business and foster new relationshipsIdentify, propose, and review tender opportunities with Senior ManagementDevelop a plan for assigning suitable estimating resources to each tenderOversee the preparation of all estimates, including a detailed review of others’ workThe complete project scope of work reviews to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of estimatesConduct a detailed analysis of the contract specifications, to ensure overall project requirements (bonding, insurance, etc.) are metIdentify and develop constructability requirements for orders of magnitude and high-level budgetingPropose and approve project risk and cost mitigation as well as the potential for project opportunitiesPrepare Bid Review Documents for review by ManagementLead estimate handover phase upon the awardParticipate in proposal post-mortems and in elaborating lessons learnedCollaborate with and provide valuable estimating expertise to another member of the leadership teamGrow and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, consultants, and clients to achieve the project goals and visionEncourage your team to be creative and innovative to come up with pioneering solutions and unique opportunities’Inspire the team to strive for excellence by leading by example, encouraging professional development, and utilizing every member’s expertiseTravel may be needed as required by the tender Qualifications: A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a construction-related programOver 15 years of a combination of field and estimating experience with the senior estimating experience of at least 5 yearsMust have bridge rehabilitation, bridge construction estimating experienceProven track record of estimate or bid managementSolid written and oral skillsPrevious field experience in the construction industry is an assetThorough understanding and proficiency in design-build and other procurement types is an assetKnowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts required  Job ID: 9M495505126 If you are interested in this position and meet the qualifications, apply today We thank all applicants; however, only those who are authorized to work in Canada or are selected for an interview will be contacted.  David Aplin Group, one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, is an employment agency specializing in finding top talent for exceptional organizations across North America.
