General Description Reporting directly to the Director of Operations for Academic Affairs, the Student Success Advisor (SSA) will play a crucial role in promoting the academic and personal success of students. The SSA will provide guidance, support, and resources to help students overcome academic challenges, set and achieve their educational goals, and navigate the college experience effectively. The SSA will be responsible for conducting comprehensive needs assessments, assisting students in academic planning, monitoring progress toward retention, graduation, and responding to academic alerts. Additionally, the Student Success Advisor will collaborate with the PODS Project Implementation Team and contribute to data collection for project performance measurement. The expected start date for this role is 04/01/2024.

Salary: $60,000; non-negotiable Duties & Responsibilities Provide academic advising services to a caseload of students, assisting them with course planning and registration, major exploration, and degree planning. Collaborate with students to create individualized academic plans aligned with their academic and career aspirations. Assist students in setting and tracking academic and personal goals. Monitor students' academic progress and intervene when necessary to address challenges or setbacks. Address students' personal and academic concerns, providing referrals to campus resources as needed. Implement initiatives and programs aimed at improving student retention rates. Organize workshops, seminars, and events to engage students and enhance their college experience. Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify at-risk students and develop intervention plans. Identify students who may be at risk of academic difficulties and provide early intervention and support. Assist students in navigating college policies, procedures, and administrative processes. Maintain accurate and confidential student records. Use data and student information systems to track and document student interactions and progress. Collaborate with other student services professionals, faculty, and administrators to enhance student success initiatives. Participate in departmental and college-wide committees and initiatives related to student success. Stay informed about best practices in student success, academic advising, and higher education trends. Serve on University committees as appointed and work on related, special projects and initiatives as assigned. Qualification Standards Master's degree in counseling, education, social work, or a related field. Previous experience working with traditionally underserved students. Previous academic advising or counseling experience preferred. Knowledge of student development or student advising theory or related roles preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Empathy and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population. Familiarity with student information systems and data management. Commitment to maintaining ethical standards and student confidentiality. Education Master's degree required
