Hillcrest HospitalPRN Performs diagnostic speech pathology test procedures and evaluates communication and swallowing function of patients. Interprets and reports test results to facilitate medical diagnosis. Provides counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and their families. Determines therapeutic plan, including need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.

Responsibilities:

Performs initial and on-going assessments of patient's condition and establishes goals and plan of care.Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard speech therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.Completes documentation to comply with department, hospital, and regulatory standards.Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Master's level degree required.Must be a graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Program.

Certifications:

Current Ohio Licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.Must hold or have applied for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from American Speech-Language Hearing Association.

Complexity of Work:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a dynamic and challenging environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

Experience in clinical area preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform tasks needed for patient care and administrative tasks.Ability to stand for long periods of time.
