Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician Wilmington, NC 28405, USA Full Time Construction Services Early Career Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician Requisition Number: 2025-1060-01 S&ME is seeking an individual to join our Construction Services team in Wilmington, North Carolina as an entry-level Construction Materials Engineering Technician and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients. What You Will Do: This role is ideal for those looking to acquire practical experience and develop in a fast-paced setting. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician , you primarily work outdoors, your dedication will be rewarded with the satisfaction of seeing projects come to life and having the ability to obtain many industry certifications to support your growth and advancement in this career. Project and Document Analysis : Comprehend project specifications before fieldwork; precisely document observations and test outcomes related to construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, and other relevant materials. Metafield Application : Effectively handle data using field and laboratory information systems. Tool Maintenance : Ensure field and lab equipment are precise and comply with industry standards. Special Inspection Monitoring : Adhere to International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials. Stakeholder Interaction : Communicate with management, contractors, and clients to report project progress and address any issues. Who You Are: You have a High School diploma/GED You have 0-2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials You have one(1) or more active certifications, a plus: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language You have math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure Working Conditions and Physical Demands: You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as: Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites We Are S&ME: At S&ME, we've spent over 50 years providing innovative solutions in geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction materials disciplines.
