S&ME is seeking an eager and dedicated full-time entry-level Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Atlanta, GA About the Role: This entry-level position is great for those looking to learn and grow in a hands-on environment. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician , you will primarily work outdoors, contributing to projects and ensuring safety and integrity. Your hard work will be rewarded as you see projects come to life and gain valuable experience. Reviewing plans specifications and Documentation : Understand project requirements before fieldwork; accurately record observations and testing results related to construction materials. Utilizing Metafield : Utilize field and laboratory information management systems efficiently for data organization. Equipment : Maintain accuracy of field and laboratory tools to meet industry standards. Special Inspection observations : Adhere to International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials. Communicate with stakeholders : Engage with management, contractors, and clients to relay project progress and address concerns. About You: You have a High School diploma/GED You have 0-2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials You have one(1) or more active certifications, a plus: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils) DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language You have math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure You can proficiently complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and email Are You Willing and Able to: Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provide Personal Protective Equipment such as: Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions Walking over rough and uneven terrain Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary Working outside of normal business hours when necessary About S&ME: For over 50 years, S&ME has delivered innovative solutions in geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction materials, tackling our clients' toughest challenges.
