OVERVIEW:This description is intended to outline the primary responsibilities, general nature and level of work being performed by teammates assigned to this position. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and competencies of the Assistant Store Manager. The incumbent may be assigned other duties and responsibilities.III. JOB SUMMARY:Serves as manager on duty, performing all of the responsibilities of the Store Manager when he or she is not present. Responsible for assisting the Store Manager with the day-to-day operations of the entire store. Serves as a model for customer service and other vital behaviors, and instills this value in all teammates. Creates an environment for continual learning and encourages an open dialogue among teammates. Provides leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of Lowe's guiding principles, core values, and vision.IV. JOB RELATIONSHIPS:- Responsible To:Store Manager- Teammates Supervised:Front End teammates. All department managers and teammates in the absence of the Store Manager.- Inter-Relationships:Frequent contact with all teammates, customers, corporate office and vendors. Occasional contact with teammates from other locations.V. JOB DUTIES:- Plan, organize, direct and controls all store activities and operations in the absence of the Store Manager.- Review financial and operating results with the Store Manager to determine where the store stands relative to budgeted sales, expenses, and payroll.- Assists in making effective and objective decisions regarding operational choices in work procedures. Assists on over seeing inventory of all departments, new product purchases, scheduling and other situations where multiple factors must be considered and weighed to maximize operating results.-Assess staffing needs; interviews and hires store teammates and ensures store teammates are able to identify and hire qualified candidates to meet the staffing needs; coordinates with thestore manager.-Terminates poor performing teammates when required.- Assists in controlling level of damaged and spoiled/out of date products and ensures proper disposition of same according to company policy.- Ensure that all teammates are courteous to customers and that requests, refunds and complaints are handled promptly and courteously.- Responsible for maintenance of prompt and accurate checkout service through the proper supervision of front end teammates and cashier accuracy.- Communicate and coordinate with Store Manager to provide feedback from the store.- Keep work area maintained appropriately to ensure a safe work environment for teammates and customers.- Must be able to unload trucks, breakdown load and stock product.- Must be able to perform other duties assigned.- Assists in controlling inventory levels to minimize over-stocks and out -of-stocks within the policy guidelines for the store to maximize sales.- Responsible for all cash on hand in the absence of the Store Manager.- Responsible for preparation of store projections and store operating budget in the absence of the Store Manager.- Responsible for ensuring that invoice documents are recorded accurately on the applicable receiving log. That all signed invoices are stored in the respective designated secured areas, and that all signed invoices are forwarded to the corporate office according to company policy in the absence of the Store Manager.- Interface with manufacturer's and sales representatives; evaluate vendor promotions in accordance with company policy to select and purchase those products that provide savings benefits with a goal of increasing sales, inventory turnover and customer traffic in the store in the absence of the Store Manager.- Conduct store walks in accordance with Management Awareness.- Responsible for efficient and effective delegation of duties to achieve maximum performance of teammates including proper follow-up to assure satisfactory performance.- Mediates disputes and solves problems between teammates and department managers or any combination of the preceding. Reports to the Human Resource Department for documenting policy procedures.- Assists in informing, training and motivating teammates and to implement disciplinary actions when required to correct behavior that involves policy violations or actions that have an adverse effect on the store operating performance or may potentially have such effects on the store or its affiliations.- Assists in enforcing store compliance of company policies, programs, procedures and guidelines- Work with store teammates to identify the root causes of issues and inefficiencies.- Constantly interacts with teammates to ensure that all teammates understands Lowe's expectations.- Adhere to all compliance of company policies, programs, procedures and guidelines.- Constantly interacts with customers; remains highly visible.- Assist in training teammates to be self-sufficient and achieve productivity expectations.- Ensure that stockers understand their role (e.g., what to do when a truck delivers and how to stock shelves, and what to do with damaged and back stock) and hold them accountable for performing according to standard practices.- Build displays and manages other teammates to ensure standards for building displays are followed.- Ensure aisle conditions and presentation are maintained.- Assists in ensuring addition and deletion standards are followed, including shelf allocation for new items and space reallocation of deleted items.-Assists in ensuring that all Management Awareness policies and goals are maintained at all times.VI. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Training and Experience:- High School Diploma or equivalent required. College background preferred. 3 years experience in the supermarket industry with completion of a management training program or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:- Possess good customer relations skills. Must be able to read and understand income statements. Must posses above average math skills. Must have good communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand the English language. Ability to manage effectively.Licenses, Registration and Certification:- Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be forklift certified.VII. WORKING CONDITIONS:- Works in a well lit, well ventilated area. Occasional exposure to refrigerated storage areas, damp/humid conditions and seasonal outdoor weather. Local and long distance travel required. Subject to seasonal road conditions and other traffic hazards. Subject to communicable disease.VIII. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:- Heavy work- exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must posses good audio, visual and hearing acuity. Requires walking and/ or standing up to a significant degree.
