Job Description Job Description Position: Dual Rate Bartender/ Supervisor Department: Food & Beverage Job Summary: Supervises and schedules the front of house staff. Provides beverage service to guests in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner displaying a high standard of guest service Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversees the day-to-day functions of the room service area. Assigns decision making and work functions in an appropriate manner to maximize effectiveness; communicates clearly the parameters of the delegated responsibility and required actions, constraints or deadlines. Inspects daily set-ups, presentation, and delivery of amenities. Inspects grooming and attire of team members and takes corrective action, if necessary; serves as role model with own personal appearance. Ensures food and drink are delivered accurately and in a timely manner to guests. Ensures that team members maintain knowledge of menu items. Checks orders and set-up. Controls order load of team members. Checks on tray and table removal throughout the shift. Handles administrative work requirements. Controls supplies and inventory utilized for maximum efficiency. Provides consistent exemplary service and consumables while maintaining profit margins. Interacts with team members from areas such as human resources, housekeeping, and facilities staff on a regular basis. Interprets departmental policy and procedures for staff and assists with disseminating and otherwise ensuring that staff understand and comply. Follows established safety and security policies and procedures including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions immediately to a supervisor. Maintains appropriate staffing levels; schedules staff to ensure an adequate number are available to serve each event. Supervises and develops direct reports by mentoring, coaching, and providing performance feedback; works collaboratively with them to design professional development plans that support their continuous learning. Interviews, recommends hires, writes and issues performance appraisals, resolves problems, provides open communication, and recommends corrective action and/or termination, when appropriate. Conducts or provides training programs; ensures all team members receive on-going training. Develops the talents and skills of team members as measured by guest satisfaction, team member satisfaction, and successful team member advancement. Develops a ‘team” atmosphere with team members and takes a pro-active leadership role. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell to guests using a guest’s name, when possible, and making good eye contact. Communicates with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone, and body language at all times. Makes guests feel appreciated through actions; offers assistance before it is requested. Anticipates guests’ needs by being alert to signals such as their raising a hand; acknowledges guests so they know the signal was observed. Mixes, garnishes, and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for guests following standard recipes. Rings drink orders into point-of-sale system immediately, collecting money for drinks served, and making change. Works with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked in accord with departmental standards at all times. Performs opening and closing inventories of spirits. Teams with others to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient beverage service. Teams with others to maintain an attractive bar display in accord with departmental standards. Ensures cleanliness of the bar area and glassware. Complies with State alcohol server requirements. Follows established safety and security policies and procedures including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions immediately to a supervisor. Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional. Resolves guest complaints in a diplomatic and level headed manner quickly, professionally, and effectively. Requests supervisor assistance when needed for an uncooperative guest or when unable to fulfill a request. Demonstrates positive, interpersonal skills with guests and team members. Functions as a supportive team member during shifts. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations pertaining to the position. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to exercise independent judgment and be fiscally prudent in recommending and/or selecting vendors, materials, and procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits as well as standard drink recipes. Knowledge of applicable health standards and workplace safety procedures. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as well as Casino Del Sol Resort’s internal controls, policies, and procedures. Proficiency with point-of-sale systems. Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. Strong communication skills. Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining strong working relationships. Basic reading skills. Ability to operate all equipment used at the bars, such as blenders and cash terminals. Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Ability to cheerfully handle stress in a fast paced environment. Ability to effectively multitask. Ability to perform mathematical computations pertaining to the position. Ability to maintain the physical stamina required, including an ability to stand for long periods. Ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation. Ability to work in a smoking environment. Knowledge of the standards, procedures, supplies, equipment, and techniques used for room service. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as well as Casino Del Sol Resort’s internal controls, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of modern filing and recordkeeping practices and procedures. Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheet applications, as well as Micros Point-of-Sale system. Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships. Skill in providing exceptional guest service and a desire to provide leadership to position the property to achieve excellence in service and quality. Superior guest service skills. Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively. Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Ability to work effectively in a fast –paced work environment. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Minimum Qualifications: High School or General Equivalency Diploma AND two (2) years’ experience in the food service industry, including supervisory experience. Must have experience in inventory control. Must obtain valid food handler’s and alcohol awareness cards within 90 days of employment. Must provide proof of sanitation training. Computer proficiency with the Micros Point of Sale System. Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and punctuality. Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed. Must have employment eligibility in the Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid non-gaming license. Certification from an accredited or state licensed bartending school OR one (1) year bartending experience OR two (2) years bar back experience, including a combination of one (1) year guest service and money handling experience. Must be 19 years of age. Computer proficiency with point-of-sale systems. Must either possess or obtain valid Food Handler’s and Alcohol Awareness cards within three (3) months of employment. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed. Must be able to work in a smoking environment. Must have employment eligibility in the Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid non-gaming license. High school or General Equivalency Diploma AND three (3) years room service supervisory experience OR any combination of academic education, professional training, or work experience approved by Human Resources. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheet applications, as well as Micros Point-of-Sale system. Must either possess or obtain a valid food handler’s certificate and be ServSafe certified within three (3) months of employment. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed. Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and creativity.
