Logistics Engineer

Duration: Months Contract Job Description: The Logistics Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing material handling and storage systems within the production environment. This role ensures efficient material flow, accurate inventory management, and optimized space utilization by leveraging process documents, data analysis, and lean manufacturing principles. The Logistics Engineer will collaborate closely with production, warehouse, and planning teams to ensure materials are efficiently managed from storage to the production line. Responsibilities: Material Flow and Bin Setup Determine appropriate bin sizes, quantities per bin, and storage locations based on material usage rates and production requirements. Create and manage material locations, labels, and layouts within the factory to support efficient operations. Set up and maintain optimal material presentation along production lines, ensuring ergonomic and efficient access for operators. Manage transfers of materials and maintain traceability for all parts across the production process. Warehouse and Space Optimization Optimize warehouse layout for maximum efficiency, accessibility, and space utilization. Continuously review and adjust storage and handling strategies to meet changing production demands. Implement best practices in warehouse operations aligned with lean manufacturing and SPS (Shopfloor Production System) principles. Process Improvement & Lean Implementation Analyze current processes and identify opportunities for waste reduction, improved flow, and enhanced efficiency. Apply lean tools (, S, Kanban, VSM) to streamline logistics and material handling processes. Support continuous improvement initiatives across logistics and production lines. Performance Monitoring & Data Analysis Track and analyze warehousing and material flow performance metrics (, Andon triggers, turnover rates, replenishment cycles). Identify root causes of material flow issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. Develop and maintain reports and dashboards for material flow performance. System and Documentation Management Utilize SAP and other ERP systems to manage material data, transactions, and process documentation. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all logistics documentation, including process flow charts, standard work, and material handling procedures. Support process audits and compliance activities related to material logistics. Experience: Minimum years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environments. Proven experience in material handling optimization and warehouse process design. Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems. Experience with lean manufacturing tools and principles (, Kaizen, S, Kanban). Education: Associate degree or an Equivalent Experience.
