Position: Maintenance Technician Location: Asbury Heights, 700 Bower Hill Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15243 Type: Full-Time / Non-Exempt About Asbury Heights Nestled in the heart of Pittsburgh's South Hills, Asbury Heights offers a comprehensive range of senior living options, from Independent Living apartments and detached homes to Personal Care, Skilled Nursing, and Memory Care. Key Responsibilities The primary focus of this role will be executing and overseeing all carpentry-related maintenance and repair work across the campus. Expert Carpentry: Perform skilled carpentry work including, but not limited to, framing, drywall installation and finishing, door and window repair/replacement, cabinet and countertop installation/repair, trim work, and basic furniture repair. Preventative Maintenance: Implement and track a preventative maintenance schedule for all wooden structures, doors, windows, and built-in fixtures. Building Repairs: Conduct general maintenance and repair tasks as needed, including minor plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks, to support the overall maintenance team. Resident Unit Turnover: Prepare resident rooms and apartments for new occupancy, often requiring substantial carpentry and repair work. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with safety regulations, building codes, and community standards, paying special attention to senior living accessibility (e.g., handrails, ramps). Documentation: Accurately document all completed work orders, time spent, and materials used. Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as a Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Worker, or professional Carpenter, with a demonstrable focus on finish carpentry and general building maintenance. Experience in a senior living, healthcare, or hospitality setting is a plus. Skills: High proficiency in all aspects of carpentry, including the use of hand and power tools common to the trade. Strong general knowledge of other trades (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, painting). Technical Aptitude: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Physical Requirements: Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, and kneel for extended periods to perform required tasks. Customer Service: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and respectful approach to interacting with senior residents and their families. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Vocational or Technical school certification in Carpentry or Maintenance is highly desirable.
