This role involves delivering tailored instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, fostering their academic growth and social development over the course of the school year.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearingAdapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needsUtilize assistive technology and communication methods such as sign language to facilitate learningCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, audiologists, and parentsMonitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to stakeholdersCreate an inclusive, supportive learning environment that enhances student engagement and confidencePreferred Qualifications:Valid teaching credential with a specialization in Deaf Education or related fieldExperience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearingProficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other relevant communication techniquesStrong classroom management skills and ability to differentiate instructionExcellent interpersonal and communication abilities for effective collaboration with staff and familiesLocation: Oakland, CaliforniaThis contract position spans the current school year, allowing for focused impact on student achievement within a structured academic calendar. Compensation
