Job DescriptionThe Power & Test unit within the S1B Power Plant Electrical & Technology group is seeking an experienced computer and electrical engineer. In this role you will be responsible for oversight of shipyard owned electric plant systems and components for the COLUMBIA class propulsion plant. Responsibilities include review of shipyard submittals addressing design, qualification, construction, and test issues for DC and AC electrical switchgear and power distribution equipment. The successful candidate will fill an important role in supporting the delivery of electric plant technology for the Navy’s number one priority – the COLUMBIA Class.Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company. Preferred Skills Knowledge of power distribution equipment and protective devices. Experience supporting submarine integrated electric plant design, testing, and/or operation. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member. Desired – Experience/qualification for electrical safety work.
