Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – TEMPORARY POSITION – Disaster Shelter SupportLocation: Emergency Shelter, Monroe County, Georgia, and other designated zones as per contract requirementsEmployment Type: Temporary/Contract BasisJob Summary:The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will provide fundamental nursing care within the emergency shelter facilities operated under the Georgia Department of Public Health Emergency Preparedness program. The CNA will work under direct supervision and perform essential duties including patient care, assistance with daily living activities, and other related duties. This position requires adherence to all state and federal regulations within the scope of practice.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Patient Care:- Assist patients with basic daily living activities, including bathing, toileting, dressing, and feeding.- Measure and record patients’ vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate) and report any abnormal findings to the supervising nurse.- Provide mobility assistance by helping patients walk or transport them in wheelchairs.- Ensure patient comfort by repositioning patients and providing necessary personal hygiene care.2. Compliance and Quality Assurance:- Ensure compliance with all state and federal healthcare regulations.- Participate in quality assurance processes to track performance and identify areas for improvement.- Promptly address and report any performance issues or complaints.3. Documentation:- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.- Report to the supervising nurse any observations related to patient health, behavior, and general condition.- Ensure thorough documentation of all care provided and adhere to reporting guidelines.4. Onboarding and Training:- Attend just-in-time orientation/training provided by the facility representative upon arrival at the assignment.- Participate in ongoing training and education sessions to stay up to date with current best practices in nursing care.5. Collaboration and Communication:- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care.- Communicate patient care plans and any changes to the appropriate medical staff.- Work as a liaison between patients and healthcare personnel, conveying pertinent information.6. Shift Assignments:- Work scheduled shifts as determined by the Department’s Office of Nursing Representative, which may include 8- or 12-hour shifts.- Be prepared to hold over at the end of the shift if nursing resources are below minimum mandatory staffing levels until replacement coverage arrives.Qualifications:Licensure:- Possess proof of certification as a Nursing Assistant consistent with Georgia's certification requirements.Experience:- A minimum of 1 year of nursing care experience.Skills:- Ability to perform duties requiring lifting a minimum of 25 lbs, pushing and pulling objects, and standing for long periods.- Proficiency in patient care activities and basic nursing procedures.Certification:- Current CPR Certification is required.Work Environment and Physical Requirements:- Must be able to work in an emergency shelter setting.- Ability to handle high-stress situations and adapt to changing patient needs.- Must be physically able to assist patients and operate necessary medical equipment.Reporting:- Directly reports to the Charge Nurse or designated supervisory staff at the emergency shelter.- Maintain regular communication with the Prime Contractor and subcontractor.Deliverables:- Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all required documentation and reports.- Adhere to the staffing schedule and any amendments therein.- Respond to requests from the Department within the stipulated timeframes.This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
