In collaboration with communications team colleagues, engagement will include web, email, social media, paid search, paid ads, display, direct mail response, and more, to meet Global Refuge's targets for growing supporters, engagement and overall private revenue. The role will reside in the Development department and work closely with the communications department. The Director will manage a team responsible for donor stewardship and mid-level engagement, as well as all direct response campaigns, impact reports, graphic design for appeals and other donor communications.Global Refuge, formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), is a nonprofit serving newcomers seeking safety, support, and a share in the American dream. Please join us as we make a difference in the lives of newcomers.Responsibilities/Duties In collaboration with development and communication team colleagues, establish direction for donor engagement via web, email, and social media strategies, and execute these efforts, aligning key deliverables with organizational objectives, while managing budget. Lead development of marketing and communications related to donor engagement and digital strategies; work closely with content writer and graphic designer on external collateral. Create and oversee strategic direction and creation of direct response campaign for Global Refuge, including integrated digital marketing strategies. In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, set annual strategy for direct mail campaign including story collection, oversight of creative and donor segmentations and goal setting. Manage a team and ensure strategy is executed and team's overarching goals are met. Responsible for the overall health and performance of the online donor experience, including basic development trouble shooting, the creation of donation pages, SMS, tracking, reporting, etc. Detailed knowledge and demonstrated ability to utilize Salesforce's reporting tools to generate detailed reports and metrics on fundraising activities and donor contributions, enabling data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.Analyze and report on metrics and measurements to determine return on investment and cost of acquisition/retention for target segments. Utilize benchmarks and set objectives to improve impact of the implemented solutions. Deliver regular reporting with actionable insights to showcase performance in digital and direct response results.Oversee the creation of donation pages, event/webinar invitations, and other donor engagement vehicles; work closely with I.T. and gift processing to ensure proper donor acknowledgements. Manage relationship with printers and other vendors related to direct response campaigns.Research new and emerging technologies and platforms and implement tools that meet the needs of the organization and align with its long-term strategy. Create funding requests and identify project ownership and management needs to implement capabilities. Establish a state-of-the-art peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, including recruitment of individuals to participate as volunteer fundraisers. Set goals working with team members to ensure team growth and professional development; review and evaluate work and prepare performance reviews. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications At least 10 years relevant experience and/or sufficient combination of training and experience in specialized field; BA/BS or equivalent lived/work experience; subject matter expert in field; prior staff management experience of 5 years or more. 7+ years of experience in development and fundraising, especially with experience in annual giving campaigns, development operations, direct response or non-profit development related experience with a proven track record of results. Solid understanding and experience in conversion rate optimization, developing, creating, and optimizing supporter/donor journeys, landing pages, donation pages, etc., salesforce and digital marketing tools. Knowledge of best practices in digital marketing preferred, with proven track record of increasing donors via digital marketing and engagement.Experience with individual giving campaigns; knowledge of direct mail best practices and benchmark setting with willingness to learn. Experience managing budgets, including forecasting and reconciliation, purchase orders and invoice organization related to printing, mailing, and digital campaigns. Experience working with developers and IT teams on complex projects; prior experience as project lead on complex projects preferred.Technical proficiency with a variety of software, including CRMs (Salesforce preferred), Google Analytics, marketing automation platforms, content management systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to assemble insights from large amounts of data and effectively communicate insights to all levels of the organization.Demonstrated success in managing revenue-generating campaigns, including those executed by external agencies, with proven track record of growth in revenue and donors. Ability to effectively communicate goals, business objectives, and data analytics to colleagues and internal leadership. Ability to coach and motivate staff to maximize performance; experiencing managing teams preferred.Strong and effective decision-making skills, organization and time-management skills, with the ability to manage up when needed. Must be able to cope within a fast-paced work environment; persevere with tenacity. Ability to manage multiple projects; separating mission critical from the non-strategic with minimal supervision. Travel may be required up to 10%; position may be remote. Ability to accept change and be flexible; focusing on action and outcomes.
