*US Citizenship Required*Remote Position- applicants preferably located in the West Coast Region*This is for a proposal effortPOSITION DESCRIPTION:NOAA Fisheries' West Coast Region (WCR) seeks a talented Web Development & Outreach Specialist. This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing web content to communicate the agency's work to diverse stakeholders, while also supporting outreach initiatives that promote NOAA Fisheries' mission.The successful candidate will ensure that online content is accurate, visually appealing, accessible, and aligned with NOAA and Department of Commerce web standards. This position will collaborate with scientists, policy experts, and communications staff to create compelling web features, manage digital resources, and support public outreach events.RESPONSIBILITIES:Create, update, and maintain web pages on the NOAA Fisheries site to reflect current WCR priorities, events, and accomplishments.Develop engaging web features, stories, and visual content that translate complex marine science and policy topics for general audiences.Ensure web content meets federal accessibility standards, branding guidelines, and NOAA editorial style.Collaborate with NOAA Fisheries HQ web teams for site updates, publishing, and troubleshooting.Assist with digital promotion of public events, stakeholder meetings, and conservation initiatives.Support multimedia integration for outreach, including videos, infographics, and interactive content.Monitor website analytics, identify trends, and recommend improvements to increase engagement.Ensure timely updates of regulatory, policy, and program information to meet legal and communication requirements.Maintain a digital archive of web content and outreach materials.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Communications, Digital Media, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).At least 14 years of experience in the Information Systems fieldAt least 2 years of experience with Drupal content management systems and HTML/CSS.Strong writing and editing skills for online audiences.Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility compliance and best practices.Knowledge of SEO principles, web analytics, and user experience design.Ability to create visually engaging and technically sound web content.Experience in science communication or working in environmental/marine fields.Skills in graphic design, photography, video editing, or GIS mapping.
