We work on a wide variety of projects and our breadth provides opportunities to form and lead project teams that tackle the Navy's most pressing problems and priorities. We are developing uncrewed systems (unmanned underwater vehicles, surface craft, launch and recovery systems), marine systems (submarine/shipboard equipment, diver equipment), and ocean sensing systems (including sensors and signal processing). Position SummaryWe're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with 1–5 years of experience who's ready to get hands-on with early-stage ocean technology R&D. You'll work side-by-side with a multidisciplinary team designing, prototyping, and testing systems that operate in one of the toughest environments on Earth.If you love turning concepts into hardware - and seeing it tested in the water - this role is for you.Design and prototype mechanical and electromechanical systems for the ocean environmentUse SolidWorks to develop high-quality CAD models and detailed fabrication drawingsBuild and test prototypes in our lab and at field sites (including ocean testing)Work closely with electrical and software engineers to integrate complete systems Analyze data, validate designs, and iterate quickly to improve performancePresent results through concise reports, presentations, and design reviews Required QualificationsB.S. in Mechanical, Ocean, or Robotics Engineering (or similar)1–5 years of hands-on engineering experience (internships or co-ops count)Proficiency in SolidWorks and mechanical design fundamentalsCuriosity, initiative, and a passion for learning by building and testingStrong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset Desired QualificationsExperience designing for subsea or marine environmentsFamiliarity with hydraulics, winches, pressure vessels, or ROVsComfort working in a machine shop or lab environmentKnowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, or design for manufacturabilityExposure to DoD or Navy R&D programs Due to the nature of our business and information associated with this position, interested candidates must be US Citizens and may be subject to a security investigation.Come join our success and grow with the strength of these fascinating new technologies.
