Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Automotive Product Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and release of electrical components and accessories for specialty vehicles. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and validation teams to deliver innovative, high-quality products on time. The ideal candidate has hands-on electrical and mechanical design experience, strong project management skills, and a passion for creating functional, reliable, and well-engineered vehicle solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with planning and strategy teams to develop new product feature ideasConduct initial design and feasibility studies with Electrical, Interior, and Exterior product teams, Vehicle Integration, and Product Design teamsCreate Source Package documents for new productsSupport purchasing teams in reviewing technical submissions and selecting suppliersAssist with supplier component development and technical guidance as neededUtilize physical and virtual tools for design and validationLead vehicle and component testing based on Design Verification Plans (DVP)Host engineering development meetings with suppliers and internal teamsTrack part timelines to ensure on-time product launchesManage and track engineering changes for vehicle systems and componentsApply knowledge of part design, manufacturing processes, and material selectionSupport projects related to aftermarket vehicle conversions or specialty vehicle customizations (preferred)Design electrical systems including wire harnesses or related componentsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldMinimum of 2 years of automotive engineering design and release experienceHands-on experience with electrical design and vehicle systemsStrong understanding of design, manufacturing, and validation processesExcellent project management, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skillsPreferred ExperienceExperience with specialty vehicle conversions or aftermarket vehicle accessoriesKnowledge of police, emergency, or fleet vehicle requirementsFamiliarity with custom brackets, consoles, spotlights, power distribution centers, and vehicle harnessesAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
