Customer Job Mechanical Engineer V Job ID: 25-11123 Pay rate range - $80/hr. to $84/hr. on W2 100% Remote Job Description: The Consultant shall provide professional structural engineering services to support Client Web Services data center projects throughout the Southeast United States. The Consultant must be a registered Structural Professional Engineer with demonstrated experience in tilt-up concrete and precast structures within the light industrial sector. The primary responsibility will be to provide technical oversight of third-party structural engineering vendors during the design and development of data center facilities, ensuring compliance with local building codes, standards, and Basis of Design requirements. The Consultant will actively participate in the design development process by conducting weekly coordination meetings with vendors, performing design reviews at 30, 60, 90, and 100 percent completion milestones, and providing over-the-shoulder guidance throughout the design phase. Additional responsibilities include supporting the resolution of permitting comments, reviewing and approving Issue for Construction drawing sets, and maintaining oversight during the construction phase. Construction phase services include resolving structurally related issues identified in the field, responding to Requests for Information, and reviewing structural submittals in a timely manner to maintain project schedules. The Consultant will serve as a subject matter expert in the continuous development and improvement of the Structural Basis of Design. This includes reviewing and updating template drawings and specifications, identifying opportunities for innovation and value engineering of structural elements, and providing technical recommendations to enhance the BOD. The Consultant shall maintain thorough documentation of all design decisions, modifications, and improvements to support the ongoing evolution of data center structural standards. Basic qualifications ABET accredited Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering 7 plus years experience in structural design for industrial or commercial projects 5 plus year of experience with design of large scale buildings such as Data Centers, Mission Critical Facilities, Hospital, Schools, or highly complex Commercial Tower facilities. Preferred qualifications Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. SE Engineering license. Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of DCs. Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standard including IBC and ASCE. Solid working proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, MS Office Suite, and other associated structural engineering tools. Detailed understanding of tilt up and precast concrete structures, structural steel systems, seismic design, wind loading, snow loading, and forensic analysis of building design and construction defects. Experience in value engineering for building structural systems. Design and calculation for auxiliary framing systems used to support cable tray, conduit, ductwork, etc. Design and review of non structural components and non building structures Ability to evaluate the constructability of new technologies, and determine construction methods of data center equipment and facilities. To perform and present business case analysis. Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find innovative solutions prior to and during the construction process to reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability.
