Our team is committed to opening the minds of students to discoveries, exploration and dramatic potential of the world of science.seeking (1)dedicated and experienced Laboratory CoordinatorWHAT MAKES PERIMETER COLLEGE A GREAT PLACE? ·A flexible work environment ·Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc. ·A knowledge-sharing organization that works collaboratively with diverse partners. ·Professional development opportunities and mentorship ·A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO The essential duties and responsibilities of the Laboratory Coordinator are the following: Plans, organizes, and directs the operations of instructional science laboratoriesDevelops, records, implements, and oversees work/lab policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work and learning environment in support of student learning objectives in coordination with the department chair and faculty.Trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates the performance of assigned laboratory technicians, instructional assistants, and other assigned personnelSchedules personnel including student assistants to support the instructional science laboratory programServes as resource person to instructorsWorks with appropriate Department chair/ Associate Department Chair in developing departmental budget needsMonitors and maintains budges for assigned functions and activities, including specifying, ordering, receiving and issuing materials, parts, and suppliesMonitors expenditures in accordance with policies and proceduresOversees the inventory of equipment and recommends laboratory equipment and suppliesMaintains inventory of expendable supplies and orders supplies needed for the operation of multiple instructor’s science laboratoriesOversees preparation of laboratory material and equipment for laboratory sessions and class demonstrations according to the instructions of the facultyAcquires, controls, safely stores, operates, maintains, and repairs large inventory of delicate, expensive laboratory equipment, and materials in assigned area, which may include hazardous materials.Acts as the Chemical Hygiene Officer for the science labsEnsures the security of assigned assetsMaintains all appropriate state and federal permits and required annual reportsMaintains current knowledge of and ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory, safety, and health standards and to ensure safe and legal acquisition, use, storage, and disposal of all chemicals and hazardous materials in science labsTeaches up to six classesper year as neededPerforms related duties as assigned.Disclaimer:This job requisition provides a high-level job definition. Knowledge of tools and equipment needed for the labs, as well as how to safely use them; safety regulations, procedures & practices; current software needed for instruction. Ability to lift or move equipment in the lab.Collegiate Physics/Astronomy teaching experience
