The NYC Department of Design and Construction's Division of Infrastructure is in search of an Engineer-in-Charge to join the Area-Wide Green Infrastructure – Cloudburst Management team. This role, reporting to the Director, entails managing the construction of complex projects, leading constructability review meetings to reduce delays, and ensuring the precise collection of project data. The Engineer-in-Charge will also coordinate with Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, and Inspectors under respective project REI or PMCM consultants, while liaising with the Design, Utility Coordination team, and Program Management Units throughout different stages of construction. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting contracted work to ensure it meets Agency and City standards, preparing cost proposals for contract negotiations, suggesting modifications to engineering designs, and engaging in design and constructability review meetings; managing and approving various project-specific submissions, such as sheeting design constructability, vendor approvals, and environmental plans, as well as overseeing financial aspects such as payments, change orders, and time extensions. Lastly, the Engineer-in-Charge will oversee final inspections, mentor new staff, manage project close-out procedures, and ensure the approval of final documentation; and will provide regular updates on project progress and address any critical delays in meetings. CIVIL ENGINEER - Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; and A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License. Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of your employment. A masters degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) may be substituted for one year of the civil engineering experience required in “1" above. Special Note: In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.Preferred SkillsPlease note the following preferred skills for this position: 1.Must have strong supervisory experience. 2. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. 3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. 4. Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure projects (sewers, water mains, roadways) 5. Knowledge and experience of Joint Bid and FHWA Federally funded Contract Specifications and requirements, contemporary engineering methods and standards. 6. Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards 7. Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices 8. experience with Design-Build and stormwater management projects, as well as a background in sustainable and resilient design and rating systems 9. Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred) 10. Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling. 11. Valid driver's license (required) 12.
