General Description: This is a part-time instructional assignment under the general direction of the Dean of Social Science and Fine & Performing Arts. The professor could be assigned to teach a variety of art courses. The maximum teaching load is 10 units per semester, which may include evening hours. Examples of Duties Essential Functions: Provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations  Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance policy  Maintain required student attendance and scholastic records  Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations  Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy  Participate in the development and review of curriculum  Participate in the development of teaching-learning methods and materials  Participate in departmental, area and campus professional activities/committees  Participate in the college's learning outcomes assessment program, including course, program, and institutional assessments  Perform tasks needed for student records, e.g., submit grades on time to admissions and records Typical Qualifications Required :  Master's in fine arts, art, or art history OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in humanities OR The equivalent (NOTE: "Master's in fine arts" as used here refers to any master's degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the "Master of Fine Arts" (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing or other non-plastic arts.) Promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist principles to nurture and create a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning and work environment. In conducting their duties, staff members shall respect and acknowledge the diversity of students and colleagues.
